I’m a Dad, Husband, and my dog’s third favourite human.
I write stories for children and adults, with picture books, novels, and screenplays. Writers whose works inspire me include: Chris Van Allsburg, J.R.R. Tolkien, C.S. Lewis, G.K. Chesterton, Agatha Christie, Bishop Robert Barron, Brandon Vogt, Haley Stewart, Father John McCarthy SJ, Rod Serling, George Lucas, M. Night Shyamalan, J.K. Rowling, John Bellairs, William Joyce, Mo Willems, David Litchfield, Hyewon Yum, The Fan Brothers, and Hayao Miyazaki.
I create digital images and visual effects using cameras and digital tools to help tell a story. As a Compositor and Rotopaint Artist, I have worked on big Hollywood movies and shows: removing unwanted objects and reflections, adding things to shots that weren’t there during filming, and even making actors appear many years younger. My background as an independent filmmaker and director taught me many lessons that inform the work I do today.
I also teach people how to do the things described above and am available as a guest speaker for schools, libraries, conferences, or podcasts. My goal is to help others gain practical skills, relevant knowledge, and a sense of purpose to contribute positively to society as a whole. I’ll never stop learning, and enjoy teaching in person and online whenever I have the opportunity.
