I’m excited to share HeyGanz.com – a one-of-a-kind online library of courses for visual effects artists!
Currently the primary content is Compositing-focused, the starting point as more content is developed and added. This platform allows us to reach a much wider international audience in a much more flexible and accommodating way.
Motivated learners with strong potential can come from anywhere. Yet those who can’t afford large tuition fees, acquire student visas, relocate to a VFX hub city, or take time off for a full-time program are often blocked from achieving their goals.
I will continue to participate in the educational revolution replacing increasingly expensive, outdated, and irrelevant university programs so that less of your time and money is wasted on things you don’t care about or causes you stand against. Tuition shouldn’t go towards a gold water fountain that you will never get to drink from. Ganz Ramalingam and I taught students where our program was their second, third, or fourth post-secondary diploma that changed the course of their career.
We also have taught students who chose or were told (usually by someone on reddit) to only study through YouTube. That works for a small percentage of people who don’t mind wasting time with ads, prompts to “like, follow, and subscribe”, or digging through hours of content to find hidden gems of truth and wisdom. It’s also hard to know what is truly accurate and wise when starting out and when your courses are chosen by an algorithm concerned with your attention, not your growth or career prospects.
Your time is valuable. Today’s learner is rightly skeptical, knowing to try before they buy. We have free courses requiring no sign up on heyganz.com, an accessible course catalogue, and a blog with hundreds of posts written by instructors. If you like what you see, sign up for a month (for the price of 1 or 2 movie tickets), explore 5+ hours of content and tell us what you think or want more of. Study on your schedule at your pace, as it should be.
PS: Please read the LinkedIn testimonials for Ganz Ramalingam and Senior Compositor: Kate T.C. Lin. They are the real deal and have poured a lot of time and effort into this, so I fully endorse them. They have an awesome blend of educational and industry experience to share with you, with more content coming from Alpha Chromatica mentors (and yours truly) in the future!
